Analysis of Magazine Survey Results

In order for to find out what type of people we would be selling our college magazine too, I conducted some reasearch around the college. I put together a survey of questions and asked random people throught out the college.

From my results I have uncovered alot of details about the intended audience. First of all we asked 'how often the magazine should be released?' Our results showed us that the majority said they would perfer it to be a monthly release with a couple voting for every week. The second question was 'how much should the magazine cost?' A very popular answer was around the 10p mark. This tells us that the audience would prefer a low budget magazine rather than a large, high quality, glossy one with a higher price.

A very low amount also chose the option of not subscribing to the magazine for some reason we dont know. Question four of the survey has asking whether the reader would prefer a magazine filled with more pictures or more of a text filled edition. Also as the graph shows (see to the right) that the magazine would be about things outside of college, genres such as sport, fashion and music were popular choices.

Finally, a good question I asked in my personal opinion was 'What do you do in your spare time?' This question allowed the magazine to collect information on what the reader is interested in and what they think is fun. It also as a question produced a range of results.

I think my questions weren't all effective. A few didn't produce the information I was really after, for example; the 'would you be willing to subscribe?' question produced the answer 'No' whenever asked. It was still useful to know, however it didn't give us an idea of what our audience in like. If this was a real survey I would've sampled alot more people giving me the most acturate results possible and showing a true reflection of all the students in the college. I'd also look to see what they last spent their money on if to help the magazine decide what people to approach with advertisments.

Overall, it was a successful survey producing a good and quality set of results. I think I conducted the survey well and it shows that surveys would be effective if forming a real magazine.
